Treatment of ACTH-Producing Pituitary Tumors

Treatment may include the following:

  • Surgery (usually transsphenoidal surgery) to remove the tumor, with or without radiation therapy.
  • Radiation therapy alone.
  • Drug therapy to stop the tumor from making ACTH.
  • A clinical trial of stereotactic radiation surgery.
